cari amici della casbah,

il sergente kris ci scrive ancora, e con rinnovato piacere pubblichiamo sempre qui il testo. Una testimonianza che contiene una interessante cronaca dai fronti iracheni, o meglio, un commento ad una videocronaca realizzata con la telecamera di kris e poi diffusa su "youtube".

Ci riferiamo al video "incoming-boring", che riproponiamo più sotto. L'episodio è indicativo dei rischi di un tour of duty in Iraq. Rischi che non hanno impedito a Kris e alla sua unità di girare quello splendido video che abbiamo ospitato qualche tempo addietro nel nostro sito: "Combat dancing in Baghdad". Purtroppo, il video è stato temporaneamente oscurato dagli stessi creatori per i motivi che Kris riferisce. Toccherà dunque aspettare settembre per gustare di nuovo le surreali ma straordinarie immagini girate da questi giovani MP.

sorry, this will be short i am in between missions. the video (combat dancing in baghdad, ndr) was 'locked' by my roomie because our unit found it and wasnt all too happy. who knew they would have figured out it was my squad? lol. anyway we shouldnt be in too much hot water but we are going to wait until mis september when we are out of here to 'unlock' it.

the 'incoming' video was shot by me when my buddy and i were in one of the perimeter towers that looks over the wall on our base, just before i turned the camera on, 2 mortars shot over our tower and hit the base. mortar and rocket attacks are a common occurance on my base and a few others in baghdad. plus it was shot on my little sony digi-cam so it looks a bit darker than it actually was that night.

i wouldnt mind hearing about your work and the area you live in, aside from airport layovers i have never been anywhere in europe. and once again any question you ask i will try to answer to the best of my ability

" ...just a quick clip following a mortar attack. my buddy and i were up in the tower when 2 mortars buzzed by and smacked into the base. you can hear the warning siren sound the alarm and 'INCOMING!' alert"
